This weekend I went to an alpaca farm. Alpacas are like the poor man's llama. I don't know I just made that up but they are smaller than llamas and cousins. Random anyway they are soooooooooooo cute. I have decided to marry the first person to buy me a llama farm and then like in the video I will take mine to the dentist but he would have to carry my purse because i hate that shit.

Knitting has begun

As if I didn't have enough shit to do I thought that I would entertain myself in ALL my non-existent free time by joining a knitting class. We are knitting a cardigan sweater that (if) when I finish will be awesome. I am knitting it in a lime/olivish green tweed. I am worried that it may be to kountry but too late now.

Richardson WTF?

I was cheering for Richardson even though he isn't moving up very fast pollwise but after recent comments...

I mean really do you think Gawd is chillax'n and actively engaged in Iowa politics?? Actually I heard he thinks that Ohio is Iowa and vice versa.

"Iowa, for good reason, for constitutional reasons, for reasons related to the Lord, should be the first caucus and primary"

I could be wrong maybe J to the C is a huuuuuuuge Ioway fan.

Thou shall never underestimate the potential of Iowa.

Way to go Ioway

So "an Iowa district court ruled Thursday that same-sex couples can marry based on the state constitution's guarantee of equal treatment, court documents show."

I must say that I am very super excited and proud of Iowa for this ruling. This would be really exciting if it holds strong through the Supreme Court and all people are guaranteed the right to marry. Yea!!!

Really Old but Super Cute!

Rafting last July in Montana. AWESOME I was looking at old pictures and missing the beauty of Montana!

Picture quality is crappy. It is from a disposable underwater camera.

For the Grand Fair Finale!!

My knitted hat got honorable mention!!! I am excited to have received a ribbon at the fair I do have to bitch about how I got shafted in display. My hat is shoved in a corner and is not easily noticeable. Boo but yeah!

Boar-licious

Every year at the fair there is a competition for everything and I just wanted to point out the runner-up for "World's Largest Boar" was adorably named Corn Dog but it's owner is Commercial Edge Genetics. That sucks. Not only is this piggy miserable and probably already bacon it has been pumped full of shit to make it unusually large. Gross. Corn Dog, I love you.

Ioway State Fair 2K7

We went to the fair and explored the many wonders that it has to offer.

We met up with a friend who was there showing some Japanese tourist a good time. I think they enjoyed the extreme trashiness that is Iowa.

The things that we consumed (as a group of five) were: Walking Taco, Veggie Corndog, Fried Cheese, Fried Oreos, and a Fried Snickers. I think we would have eaten more had it not been a ga-zillion degrees out.

Overall it was pretty good but C-Dawg and I were devastated that the petting zoo was eliminated this year but upon further review we decided that it was best for the animals.

New Apartment Pics

So I would say that I am 3/4 of the way moved in. Steve is bringing a few more large items this weekend but here is my progress.

Obsess Much?

So everyone knows that I have too many books and here is the proof!

Since I have been separated from most of them for a year I have sized down-four boxes worth. That is not nearly enough but I am pretty proud of my progress.

It gets better with age...right?

For my birthday we packed about a week's worth of fun into a few days. Starting out we went to Minneapolis to see Gravy Train and it was awesome!!! We followed it up with a Saturday of sushi, swimming, and old man music. The girl posse was completed with a visit from Dotson and we partied it up with my dad for a few hours!

Lady Rockin Iowa Style

One of the local casinos has free concerts during the summertime and one was Joan Jett. She wore a bikini and was really really freakin' hot!!! So worth the money--non-money. Oh and some old guy grabbed my crotch. So happy to be back in Iowa where the creeps are creepy.

Fourth of July Festivities

Long time no blogging. Excuse the multitude of old posts all at once.

To kick off the 4th of July we went to Cedar Rapids and were hosted by a thrifting messiah. We were supposed to attend the town's festival--Freedom Fest but the activities were rare and overpriced so we thrifted and made our own fun. To celebrate the weekend we dressed entirely in red, white, and blue. Pretty freaking awesome!

WTF????

There are not even words to explain how I feel about this contest. Let me post what I am talking about and then we can bitch.

OK. So I can't find the winner on this trashy newspaper website that just posts bar pictures but I have to ask the intelligent question of why would anyone participate in this? And yes I got all the obvious answers but really do ppl REALLY think this is acceptable treatment of women? You can take the Girls Gone Wild argument that if it makes women feel empowered go ahead but really taking it off for a set of free bar boobs makes me question this logic especially when violence against women in the news is at an all time high (all time by my standards but I haven't watched the news in a long time). It seems that instead of asking the important questions of appropriate treatment and portrayal of women we are blaming outside factors (violence on TV, steroids, drugs) instead of the perpetrators and the role media representation has on the treatment of women worldwide. Ugggh!

Hometown Hits

Earlier this week the girls and I went to a high school softball game in a neighboring community. It was a lot of fun! C-Dawg was drowning in delight over her walking taco and the vegetarians suffered again, as usual. The team we were cheering for got spanked but what can you do.

Chillax-ed in Iowa

Ok What have I been up to in Iowa??? Mostly a lot of drinking, dancing, and chatting engagements. Here are some pictures.

One night we were hanging out in someone's backyard drinking some beers and this HUGE beetle thing flew at C-Dawg. She knocked it on the ground and the dudes had to play with it. Like the good vegetarian that I am, I instantly suggested that we kill it but no one listened to me. They put it back in the bushes. A little while later we left to walk to this dancy bar place. Once there we were drinking and chatting. I felt something on the inside of my skirt and when I looked it was that fucking beetle. So like any normal person--I screamed, blamed it on one of the boys for not killing it earlier, and then almost died. It was pretty intense.

I forgot on father's day I went kayaking with my father. It was a lot of fun but of course I didn't take any pics. I go to Mankato on Friday to check it out--Yah!!

Picture run-down: Ladies dance party, HUGE ass beetle, random drunken dance party, and my saweet beer case recliner!

Let the presidential parade begin...

This weekend the ladies and I went to a small house party and listened to a speech by Barack Obama. It was really good. I was impressed and re-energized. He spoke a lot about his time spent as a grassroots organizer and the importance of working at the local level. I was disappointed by the fact that he didn't touch specifically on protecting Roe v. Wade but what can you do. I wanted to ask a question about how he would handle abstinence-only funding but there were alot of old people and global warming questions. After the event we stood in line to get his autograph and picture but we were snubbed. I did learn that old people are pushy and rude and that if I want to get in there I must learn how to adopt that attitude. Although we were snubbed we still jumped behind him!!!

Gay Pride!!

Last weekend C-Dawg and I went to the Des Moines Gay Pride Parade and it was awesome. The atmosphere was welcoming and accepting. Hillary had a huge float in the parade but Obama's appearance was disappointing. There were lots of cute people dressed crazy!!

A proper Montana good-bye

On the way out of Montana we stopped at a rest area outside of Bozeman and inside the stall was this wonder piece of true artistic talent. Feast your eyes and beware it is intense.

Piece Out Party

Thanks for the sweet going away party and for making my time in Montana super-fun!

Glacier Goodness

On the way out of Montana we all stopped by Glacier did some hiking and some rafting. No rafting pictures yet but here are some of our hiking.

The Going-To-The Sun road was closed but we still found plenty to do. We stopped at Avalanche and hiked to the lake and then camped at Sprague Creek. Puke made salmon on the camp stove which was delicious and then we hovered around the fire. It was so cold but Connie from The Red Basement geared us up so we were prepared. Thanks lady!

On the way back from Glacier we got stuck in a snow storm it was intense. Easy going and we made it after a few beers at Stoner's!

Project Challenge

Since moving to Helena Pukemaster and I have hiked Mt. Saint Helena behind our apartment a few times but I have never hiked to the ultimate peak. Puke made me do it and the entire time he kept saying Project Challenge lets go...so I kicked the shit out Project Challenge. I have to admit it was awesome and really fun.

Watch out grannys I'm taking the blue

I will be entering these things in the knitting contest at the Iowa State Fair. The cream aran hat is my serious piece. The lighting in this picture is bad but it is much better in person. If you get first or best in show or something there is money involved but I am in it for bragging rights!

I am also entering this face mask that I have posted here before just to fuck with people. I
think everyone will love it!

Knitted Goodies Part 2

And for the ladies of the house...

Armbands for the cold and the versatile boob hat to be shared with Selma. She is embarrassed by her own beauty.

Knitted Goodies Part 1

Boobie hat for super river trippin. Why freeze when you can carry an extra boob in your boat.

You shall be the envy of all. I am sad I cannot see the unveiling by the fireside!
