I totally stole ALL of this from Connie at The Red Basement. I am an asshole but this is good and she rocks

FYI click here for The Red Basement

Recently I sent a letter to the editor about the Roe V. Wade Anniversary. I TRIED to re frame the debate away from abortion, you know focus privacy and prevention. Yesterday, someone was kind enough to send me a copy of my LTE with a bad photocopy of dismembered baby arms next to a dime, they were gracious enough to scrawl a note at the bottom "This is fact". Sadly, the mailer did not provide me with their return address so I could thank them for the copy of my LTE.

Baby arms. You CAN NOT talk to those people about anything. Not prevention (birth control and sex education), not women's rights, not minority rights, all you get back is fucking baby arms.

I wish I could write back to baby arms thanking her (I assume it is a her, the handwriting was might fancy) for changing my life. Who would have known that baby arms would change my years of pro-choiceness. SERIOUSLY. They use this "baby killer" business to keep pro-choicers afraid to be openly pro-choice.

Speaking of baby arms, Rick "baby arms" Jore the no talent assclown from Lake County is having his first hearing on his "Life Begins at Conception" CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT. Did you catch the constitutional amendment part? Yeah. Think about it. It will only be used to criminalize pregnant women. Bad news.

Oh and there is this new doozie. A full abortion ban because - get this - women OWE it to the State of Montana to produce workers. Ladies hear me now, you don't own that little fleshy babymaker that is in your tummy. It belongs to the welfare of the State of Montana. HURRY - Go make yourself some white baby workers.

WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Montana believes it has a compelling state interest in increasing the birth rate over the next two decades to ensure that the state has enough people of working age to prevent a labor shortage; and . . .
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Montana wishes to accomplish the goals of promoting a balanced population, increasing the state birth rate, and promoting the birth of all of the state's posterity.

In Case You Were Wondering....

What we do on the weekends. Here is the hard evidence. We buy beer, drink the beer, and then torture the cat into being a corporate whore for beerland. Ok not true, Bill loves boxes and climbs in on his own free will.

My New Friend

So I hadn't changed the dress form's outfit since we moved in and she was looking a little chilly. So I dug through the archives and now she is a foxy lady! Just a side note the hat is a super thrifting find not meant to offend-so don't be.

Damn Feminists....

I love Katha Pollit. Her latest article in The Nation is a book reivew of The Enemy at Home: The Cultural Left and Its Responsibility for 9/11 by Dinesh D'Souza. D'Souza enlightens readers as to the real causes for 9/11.

What are they you ask? Only the most obvious reasons such as:

"No, 9/11 was provoked by feminism, birth control, abortion, pornography, feminism, Hollywood, divorce, the First Amendment, gay marriage, and did I mention feminism?"

"D'Souza acknowledges, it's a secular version of Jerry Falwell's contention that 9/11 was a divine rebuke to "the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America." "

"The same objection can be raised to D'Souza's cultural explanation for 9/11: Al Qaeda didn't send planes crashing into Universal Studios or the headquarters of Planned Parenthood. It blew up the emblems of US economic and military might. Subsequent attacks took place in countries that sent troops to Iraq, not condoms to Cairo. As Osama himself has noted, he's not attacking Sweden."

This book sounds very much like the Ann Coulter genre of crazy but the review is great!

DEAD!!!

The cats are starting to feel insecure and taking it out on the porcelain animals. My poor gold kitty:( It was just sleeping in Bill's rejected cat bed.

I am thinking that it was ambushed from behind.

America's Greatest Past Times

If I was in Iowa I would be participating in one of my favorite past times, people watching at Pheasant Fest 2007. I think that Sunday looks like the most fun with sessions such as First year training for introducing your new dog to birds and guns, Hunters are Lousy Lobbyists, and of course Predator Calling Secrets. There is even a cooking section:

“The best eating are the younger deer, the younger pheasant,” he said. “When people are out hunting deer, elk or whatever and trying to get an old mature animal, in the culinary field those animals are looked on like stewing hens. Age is a factor that affects taste and tenderness.”

INSTEAD we are thinking about attending the
Helena Bridal and Anniversary Fair. It doesn't seem as trashy as the Deer Classic or the Pheasant Fest but should promise some key people watching. Hopefully there will be lots of cake and champange!!

GOP a.k.a Masters of Intelligence

So once again a Republican legislator stuck his foot in his mouth, or maybe his entire leg.

Senate Minority Leader Corey Stapleton (R-Billings) stated in response to the legislature being in session on Martin Luther King Jr day that:

“No one in the Negro caucus objected,” Senate Minority Leader Corey Stapleton joked.
(Uh, for those that don’t know, there are no black lawmakers in Montana.)

In all seriousness, Montana’s legislators like several others, have always plowed through every holiday except Easter, Stapleton said. They work on President’s Day. Flag Day. St. Patrick’s Day. Valentine’s Day. “We even work on Ground Hog Day,” Stapleton said.

Wow I really am learning alot in Montana. MLK=Ground Hog Day. Hmmm I see where you are coming from. Maybe those assholes should have to work on Easter and every other Christian holiday until they learn about diversity. Jerks.

Found Art!

I found this in a garbage can somewhere in South Dakota. It's genious.

Update: Harkin

Today the House passed a bill that would lift the ban on federal funding of stem-cell research. Of course, Bush is expected to veto it again but still this rocks.

And this is the second one....

I am currently working on the third one and I promise it will fit. I am making adjustments to the pattern.

So this was my first ski mask made from a pattern in McCall's Needlework and Crafts 1965

My love hate relationship with Iowa politics

So first I get my annual Harkin family Christmas card in Montana and now he is leading the charge in support of a bill that would allow federal funding for stem-cell research. Rock on Harkin, I think I love you!

The comments are a must read one calls pro-choicers "death worshippers" which I find relatively amusing.

On a more "you suck Iowa" note Rep. Steve King from western Iowa is in the process of sueing former Secretary of State and newly elected Governor, Chet Culver and the current Secretary of State, Michael Mauro for posting voting instructions on the Secretary of State's website in languages other than English. In case you forgot Iowa passed that lovely English-only law a few years back. That English-only law that King wrote and fucking Vilsack signed into law--good luck at your presidential run, jerk.

The English-only law makes English the official language of Iowa. Attorney General Tom Miller ruled that Culver had full authority to offer the forms in foreign languages. This ruling should end King's suit but of course he will push on and persevere.

In case this doesn't make you hate Steve King (i.e., the Conrad Burns of Iowa)

He is also in support of building a wall on the border and proposed putting wire along the top:
"We could also electrify this wire with the kind of current that would not kill somebody, but it would be a discouragement for them to be fooling around with it. We do that with livestock all the time."

He has also compared illegal immigrants to stray cats that wind up on people's porches. King said at first stray cats help by chasing mice, so people feed them. King added that the stray cats then have kittens, which are liked for their cuteness, but eventually the strays, fed by the people, end up getting lazy, just like illegal immigrants.

And if all this wasn't enough he is a member of the Minute Men.

Highlights of the Montana Legislative Session, Part 1

My favorite bill was heard earlier this week in the Senate Public Health, Welfare and Safety Committee. During the hearing Senator Don Ryan shared his horror story with the committee:

"I went in, took care of things, went out, and I washed my hands, and that was just fine," he said. "There was soap there. And when I was done washing my hands, I turned to look, and there were no paper towels."

I would just like to point out that people in Montana seem to more environmentally conscious and should be in favor of and advocating for the air hand dryers instead of paper towels. And the air hand dryers have a duel role. For example, when you spill say a very large margarita in your lap you can dry your pants and your hands at the same time.

One more sweet session update thanks to the ladies at the Red Basement:

Apparently Republican lawmakers are not on the up and up when it comes to being politically correct. But hey don't blame Rep. Ed Butcher, R-Winifred the comments were made "before the committee meeting had formally convened." So racism only counts if the committees are in session--good to know. But still it isn't his fault:

Butcher said he has an extra-large gavel and turned to Rep. Jonathan Windy Boy, D-Rocky Boy, a member of the committee, and asked him if the gavel could be a “war club.”

Then, shortly before the meeting was to start, but while Windy Boy was not present, Butcher said the meeting couldn’t begin because he was waiting on “Chief Windy Boy.”

“There sure as hell wasn’t anything negative about (the comment)” Butcher said, adding that he’d always considered Windy Boy one of the “sharpest” American Indian lawmakers in the House.

Butcher said if he intended to say something disparaging about American Indians, “I would have come up with something (worse) than that.”

because if it was his fault he would have pulled out the big guns and offended everyone. Cheers Montucky Cheers.

High Fives to Hometowns

So I went to school and sort of grew up in Stuart, Iowa. Check out the sweet welcome sign and the nightlife apparently hasn't changed in 55 years. Even though Johnies is one of the greatest townie bars in the area.

FYI I was one of the 1600 good eggs.

More Sweet Iowa Pics

Rekindled Love

So like every other fourteen year old girl I was in love with Justin Timberlake and N'SYNC. I will admit it. We had a mutual falling out sometime in the late 90's and things haven't been the same ever since. I am not a fan of his new solo career, although Sexy Back is sweet for dancing to. The tides began to change after Dick in a Box and now this sweet movie, Alpha Dog. So I don't know if it will be any good but a bad boy with tats and stalker facial hair. Yeah. What can I say JT is back and I am in love. Check it out....

I hope everyone will still love me!

The Crew

So Iowa was a blast and here is the evidence.

So I have to brag these people rock and I love all of them. New Year's was a dance party to the max. Thanks dudes for the sweet accommodations and intense drinking.
