My love hate relationship with Iowa politics

So first I get my annual Harkin family Christmas card in Montana and now he is leading the charge in support of a bill that would allow federal funding for stem-cell research. Rock on Harkin, I think I love you!

The comments are a must read one calls pro-choicers "death worshippers" which I find relatively amusing.

On a more "you suck Iowa" note Rep. Steve King from western Iowa is in the process of sueing former Secretary of State and newly elected Governor, Chet Culver and the current Secretary of State, Michael Mauro for posting voting instructions on the Secretary of State's website in languages other than English. In case you forgot Iowa passed that lovely English-only law a few years back. That English-only law that King wrote and fucking Vilsack signed into law--good luck at your presidential run, jerk.

The English-only law makes English the official language of Iowa. Attorney General Tom Miller ruled that Culver had full authority to offer the forms in foreign languages. This ruling should end King's suit but of course he will push on and persevere.

In case this doesn't make you hate Steve King (i.e., the Conrad Burns of Iowa)

He is also in support of building a wall on the border and proposed putting wire along the top:
"We could also electrify this wire with the kind of current that would not kill somebody, but it would be a discouragement for them to be fooling around with it. We do that with livestock all the time."

He has also compared illegal immigrants to stray cats that wind up on people's porches. King said at first stray cats help by chasing mice, so people feed them. King added that the stray cats then have kittens, which are liked for their cuteness, but eventually the strays, fed by the people, end up getting lazy, just like illegal immigrants.

And if all this wasn't enough he is a member of the Minute Men.
